📖 10 min read · Updated May 14, 2026

Who Can Apply?

Singapore PR is available to Employment Pass holders, S Pass holders, EntrePass holders, and foreign spouses of Singapore citizens or PRs. The most common route is through the Professionals/Technical Personnel & Skilled Workers scheme. EP holders earning above SGD 6,000 per month are typically eligible after 6 months of working in Singapore.

The Application Process

Submit your application online via ICA's e-PR system. Required information includes personal details, employment history, educational background, family composition, and declarations. You'll need to upload digital copies of all supporting documents. The processing time is 4-6 months on average.

Key Success Factors

ICA assesses multiple factors: salary stability (preference for those earning above SGD 8,000), length of stay in Singapore (2+ years is ideal), qualifications (degree from recognised institutions), age (under 45 preferred), family ties in Singapore, community involvement, and economic contributions. A well-written personal statement explaining why you want to be a PR can make a difference.

What Happens After Approval?

Once approved, you'll receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter valid for 1 month. You need to complete medical check-up, obtain an Entry Permit, register for the National Service (if applicable for male children), and collect your PR identity card. As a PR, you can live, work, and study in Singapore indefinitely, with the right to purchase HDB resale flats.
